31 Paintings in 31 Days

In the month of January, 2021, I participated in a painting challenge. The challenge was simple in idea but a challenge to complete. The challenge? Complete 31 paintings in the 31 days of January. One painting a day for an entire month! I participated in this challenge January 2020 with my fresh, four-week-old newborn. Since I no longer have a newborn I thought the challenge might be easier to complete this year. While the logistics were simplified this year, it was still quite a feat to complete 31 paintings in 31 days! As challenging as this challenge was, I did it. I completed 31 paintings in 31 days!

This challenge is a perfect scenario for growth, exploration, and consistency. Last year, I explored watercolor for the 31 day challenge. This year, I stayed with acrylic mostly, but explored several different subjects and painting styles. I began with watercolor illustrations, moved on to pet portraits in acrylic, and finished out the challenge with some abstract landscape paintings.

Each piece is small in size, the largest are 6″x9″ and 4″x12″. Some pieces are stronger than others, but each piece is key to my growth as an artist. Through this challenge I am seeing consistency in style and color, and I am further solidifying which subject matter I prefer.

All but a few paintings will be for sale. Those on my email list will get first pick of the paintings on February 12, 2021. For those not on my email list, the paintings will be posted in my Instagram stories Monday, February 15, 2021 at 2:00pm EST. Click here to join my email list and here to follow me on Instagram.

I am so thankful to Andrea for hosting this challenge and for the growth and exploration it provided. Moving forward is the 100 day challenge, create art daily for 100 days!

Thank you for following along, I’ll see you in my email list or on Instagram!
